Shepherd’s Shelter

The “Shepherd’s Shelter” is in the village of Krana in the Municipality of Mylopotamos at an altitude of 848 meters. It is a representation of a “mitato” (the shepherd’s house on the mountain). In the “Shepherd’s Shelter” the visitor can meet the rituals and the traditional way of life of the inhabitants of the Mt. Psiloritis by participating in various activities, such as milking, cheese-making, “koures” (sheep shearing), growing vegetables and mountainous herbs, as well as cooking Cretan recipes. The wildlife around Mitato offers untouched trails for hiking, bird watching, herb searching and cycling. More information can be found here.
